The Papas en Acción program outreaches to immigrant, monolingual Spanish speaking fathers with young children (ages birth to 8), who are in need of support in their parenting and/or relationships with their children. The goal of the program is to enhance family functioning by supporting father-child attachment and fathers’ resilience, increasing fathers’ parenting skills, improving their knowledge of children’s socio-emotional needs and competencies, and facilitating fathers’ social connections.

The parenting support systems delivered by this program is critical for this specific population of fathers. The stress of being underemployed, raising children in communities plagued with violence, the loneliness of immigration, and the overall lack of social networks contribute to feelings of depression in caregivers.
